“Range day used to end with me on my knees, digging for brass. Tried all the gimmicks—still picking by hand. Grass Scavenger kept me standing and picked up 300 cases in under 2 minutes. An absolute game changer – my back is thrilled. I’m on the waitlist for mine. Highly recommend."

Brass Cleanup from "Ugh" to "Ahh" — Fast. Fun. Done!

If you're like me, the highlight of your week are days spent at the range. There's nothing quite like that feeling… until… the dreaded cleanup of picking up brass. First sight of your sea of spent brass is always a jolt, making your knees and back twinge before you even start.

Ammo Scavenger™ line of patent-pending, surface-specific brass casing collectors pick up brass fast – hundreds of brass in seconds. Collects all caliber sizes from smallest .22 LR to large .50 BMG – without attachments or swaps – while standing comfortably. The collection bin is angled for convenient touch-free dumping your brass straight into any bag or bucket.

How Ammo Scavenger compares for brass pickup.

The table and chart show Ammo Scavenger solves the core problems and leads on every benefit. It scores 0 on all problems (no size limits, no bending, no dirty emptying, no setup) and 5/5 on every advantage (speed, clean no-touch emptying, ease, low-maintenance, lightweight, durability, overall). On the net-score chart (advantages minus problems), Ammo Scavenger is +5.00— well ahead of wire-cage rollers (+0.19) and spike pickers (+0.60), while ground sheets (−2.04) and stationary catchers (−0.19) net negative. Bottom line: fastest, cleanest, most functional option.

Net score = advantages − problems; higher is better.

Not Built for Shooters or the Range

Until now, the brass collection tools and gadgets available were originally designed for other jobs. The typical brass retriever or brass collector started life in orchards or on shop floors — not on firing lines. They weren’t designed for shooters, real range terrain, or multiple caliber sizes, so when used as a brass pick up tool, they fall short where it counts.

Combining my decades on the range, IPSC/IDPA matches, and engineering knowhow, I developed Ammo Scavenger™. A line of purpose-built brass collectors for recreational, competitive, and law-enforcement shooters.

They collect hundreds of brass in seconds, handling all common calibers from .22 LR to .50 BMG on range surfaces we actually train on: grass/packed dirt, sand, and concrete.

If you’re searching for the best way to pick up brass at the range, Ammo Scavenger™ brass recovery tools are engineered for shooters in real range conditions.

BRASS ROLLERS & STABBERS

Slow pickup, limit sizes: Limited caliber sizes and slow pickup are the rule. Brass rollers — often sold as a brass collector roller or “brass retriever” — were born to scoop uniform nuts, not multiple calibers. Their flexing wires only grab a narrow size range and often shed what they’ve already picked up, turning a brass collector into slow, frustrating work.

Stabber -style devices designed to gather only specific size cases off grass or concrete, but as a personal range brass pick up tool the small, fingered contact patch collects only a few cases per pass, needs frequent emptying, and still skips smaller and larger calibers.

TARPS & NET

Heavy, hazard, miss: Heavy tarps and fussy nets obstruct movement and create tripping hazards. As a brass collector for range use, they’re awkward to position, catch only a fraction of ejected cases, and can leave you skating on fabric instead of planting your feet.

CATCHERS

Block, deflect, snag, singe, slow: On-gun catcher attachments can block sights and deflect brass back, while nets snag or singe and slow your reps. What sounds like the best way to pick up brass casings without bending often turns into more malfunctions and less confidence behind the gun.

BY HAND

Strain knees, back, dirty hands: Despite trying every brass collector tool, many shooters still end up picking up your brass one at a time. It’s slow, hard on knees and back, and means direct contact with dirty residue. That toxic lead dust and grime get tracked to benches, your vehicle, and your home — exactly what a brass casing collector should help you avoid.

Indoors Vs. Outdoors:

Why Improvised Tools Fall Short

Whether indoors or outdoors, improvised brass collectors struggle because each surface has inherent problems.

Indoor ranges end up thick with fine lead dust; brooms and generic clean-up gear just kick that residue back into the air and across the floor, making a heck of a mess.

On outdoor ranges, ejected casings disappear in grass and debris, so you’re practically nose-to-the-dirt to find your brass — straining joints, back, and patience. It’s why many shooters walk away from their brass frustrated, even after trying a popular brass retriever or a so-called best brass pick up tool.

The Better Way

Brass rollers and stabbing devices are makeshift and were never meant for this job — that’s why they offer only fair results and limited caliber compatibility, slowing you down. Tarps, fishing nets, even upside-down umbrellas only partially capture ejected cases and can create unsafe footing. Despite all that extra gear, you still wind up bent over, crouching, and picking up your dirty brass one at a time.

Ammo Scavenger™ is different: a line of purpose-built brass collectors for range use — designed by a shooter for shooters — to clear small to large calibers fast on grass, sand, and indoor concrete. If you’ve been searching for the best way to pick up brass at the range, this is the range brass collector and brass recovery tool built to keep you upright, efficient, and clean.

Every range should have these!

“The scavenger flawlessly picks up everything I shoot and leaves the range cleaner than when I started. Every range should have these!”

Easy on the back and knees and
saves me money, great product!”

“Picking up pistol brass on the outdoor range was almost a lost cause until this came along. It does a great job of lifting the cases out of the grass and any grass and dirt drops out the bottom of the collector bin. Easy on the back and knees and saves me money, great product!”
