From “Ugh” To “Ahh”: The Brass Game-Changer
Built because my knees said “enough.”
We live for range days — but picking up brass wrecked my back and knees after practice at the range or IPSC/IDPA matches. I tried every gadget I could find and discovered they were made for other jobs — orchards, shop floors, industrial sweeps — not for mixed case sizes or real range terrain.
In 2022 I started building one for myself. What I thought would be a quick fix turned into a 4-year obsession: thousands of hours, over two hundred prototypes, and a lot of “back to the drawing board.”
One big lesson hit early: no single tool handles every surface. So I tuned the design for the big three we see most—grass/packed dirt, concrete, and sand — and refined them every time I hit the range.
A year later, I had a working concept and filed for patent protection. Range members kept stopping me — How does it work? Can I try it? Can I buy one?
By June 2024, our Concrete model had gone from prototype to daily club duty — I’d begun selling it to clubs, and it’s been working ever since.
Tested by real people, refined by real feedback.
This isn’t a lab toy. It’s been tested by — and shaped with feedback from — plinkers, high-level competitors, and IPSC/IDPA instructors to dial in functionality, ease of use, and case-pickup geometry on specific range surfaces: grass, sand, and concrete.
The result is the Scavenger™ action: a tailored system for brass recovery— range-rugged, light, corrosion-resistant, purpose-built for real ranges. Stand to use it, collect in seconds, tip to dump. No bending. No mess.
What it is
Scavenger™ is a patent-pending line of purpose-built brass collection tools optimized for specific range surfaces — designed for professionals, competitors and plinkers.
Proof at the range
Since June 2024, our Concrete model has been in daily use at clubs — used by hundreds of people— earning rave reviews.
Today
After 4 years of real range use, candid feedback, and steady tuning, Scavenger™ is ready for the public. Built by a real person who was tired of the worst part of a great day at the range. If brass pickup is your least favorite drill, this one’s for you.
